Different angles in 2 point perspective

This week we did one last perspective practice, this time looking at different angles in 2 point perspective:

The basic idea behind this is to use subdivisions and the new verticies from those to rotate the cube by a precise measurement (e.g. 45 degrees). The trouble is the cube gets smaller when you do this, and I can't remember how to fix that.

One of the tasks we had to do was stacking cubes on top of eachother, rotating it more each time. Doing it mathematically like this started to melt my brain a bit so I had to do a quick sketch eyeballing it so I could have a sort of end goal. The first try I used the front face as reference isntead of the top face, so it went a bit crazy.

Finally, we did this. Practiced duplication, as well as some kind of door thing. I managed to do the one opening upwards, but got extremely confused when trying to draw one opening sideways - you can see I eyeballed it again with the little sketches in the bottom right corner. I think in future, I'm just going to use a reference and sketch things like this by eye. The duplication will be useful though. Something I struggled with despite trying my best was I always press down quite hard with the pencil, I think partially to make sure it stayed on the ruler, but this resulted in a lot of visual noise/ made the construction lines become messy/ too much quite quickly. Normally I would use a kneadable eraser to lighten them up but I didn't have one on me this time.
