More last minute game stuff + trailer

Image
I made a trailer for the game:       And I made a bunch of last minute dialogue boxes, as once we'd made the game, there wasn't really a story, and I wanted to make sure we fit the brief since we hadn't actually discussed mental health in the game. It's not much, and pretty surface level, but it's better than nothing. It's also important to note here that I only did the lineart and the dialogue here, the rest was done by other people in the group (Henry coloured and shaded the sprites, and Holly made the notebook style dialogue box with all the little doodles etc)         They're all seperate files, and I had to remove the characters after + correct a few spelling mistakes, but this is the general idea   for the trailer I made some fake screenshots, by screenshotting the game so far and editing it to make it look like how it was going to look (slightly different for the trailer) - I added a lense blur and then the dialogue boxes: ...

Bonus dragon sketches

Image
Just for fun, I sketched two very different looking dragons, something to do with an idea I had for my dissertation next year:     I'm not gonna elaborate but you might be able to guess what it's gonna be about based on this

Adventures in last minute sprites

Image
So, it turns out no one knew who was doing the talksprites, and no one did them, so for speed I decided to do the lineart for someone else to colour in: I did some sketches like this and then did the lines, I copy and pasted the body for most of them for speed and consistentcy.  Then I did some sprites for the rest of the characters, not all of them are getting detailed sprites, so I only did these ones. The other characters are also only getting one expression - some have alternate versions with/without their missing items, but I didn't have to redraw the whole thing for those. The bunny with glasses and the wolf are based on some sketches a team member made, and another one designed the highland cow's outfit, everything else is my ideas: I also made some final papercraft sprites for some of the character designs that didn't have them yet, here are the sketches:     and here are the sprites themselves:      Before doing all the digital stuff I also d...

Different angles in 2 point perspective

Image
This week we did one last perspective practice, this time looking at different angles in 2 point perspective:  The basic idea behind this is to use subdivisions and the new verticies from those to rotate the cube by a precise measurement (e.g. 45 degrees). The trouble is the cube gets smaller when you do this, and I can't remember how to fix that. One of the tasks we had to do was stacking cubes on top of eachother, rotating it more each time. Doing it mathematically like this started to melt my brain a bit so I had to do a quick sketch eyeballing it so I could have a sort of end goal. The first try I used the front face as reference isntead of the top face, so it went a bit crazy. Finally, we did this. Practiced duplication, as well as some kind of door thing. I managed to do the one opening upwards, but got extremely confused when trying to draw one opening sideways - you can see I eyeballed it again with the little sketches in the bottom right corner. I think in future, I'...
