Extras - Christmas Holidays
This
post is essentially a dumping ground for all the non-uni related
artwork and sketches I did over the Christmas holidays (except for the D&D scene, which has it's own dedicated post) - none of it is
really related to eachother. They're not necessarily in chronological order, as I can't remember when exactly I drew these, and I tend to put my favourites at the top where more people are likely to see them.
First are some sketches of one of my characters, Robin:
I was struggling to draw this guy again, probably because my art style had changed slightly after doing a brief study and after drawing/ sculpting the vampire knight, but here I finally got him down, I'm really happy with how these turned out. I started doing a pose for him but sort of ran out of time.
Robin was initially a bit of a homebrew D&D character, but he quickly became his own thing, you'll probably see him a lot more in the third year if we get to do our own original game ideas.
I did these sketches on the bottom first, the last thing I drew was the hyper masculine vampire knight followed by false hydra sketches where I had finally gotten one kind of head structure down, so it took a bit of practice to loosen up again and be able to draw him the way I wanted to again. The exaggerated, panicked expressions were my way of trying to get out of drawing that one specific type of head.
Next is the continued planning for a Metal Sonic (SEGA 1993) cosplay I want to make someday - maybe over summer this year but realistically this will probably be a project for after I've graduated:
I don't really have the storage for essentially a foam suit of armour right now, so I'm mainly looking into making the head and arms, maybe also the shoes. One day I'll hopefully be able to make the whole thing, but I also think making little outfits for him will be pretty fun.
Next are some studies and sketches from the recent episodes of Beastars (Netflix 2020):
Lastly, I had a look at some of the prompts for the Christmas advent challenge on NTU now, I didn't end up making any art for it but I did sketch some vaguely mutant reindeer. The one on the left looks more like a horse skeleton, I think I subconsciously had the one in Wollaton Hall in mind, as well as the Mari Lwyd, a spooky Welsh Christmas horse (Welsh Government 2025).
I can't remember when I did this next sketch, I think I was gonna post it once I finished it, although I doubt I'll come back to this anytime soon:
This is a sketch of the character Curly from Mouthwashing (cite later).
