Week 2 - Perspective Recap
The 2nd Toolkit 2 lesson was a perspective recap, so we practiced various types of perspective grids, and then drew a scene in 2-point perspective:
First of all we constructed a 2-point grid, and drew some cubes and other shapes. I'm not concinved that the pyramid labelled with a question mark is correct but the grids I made were quite small and everything was very close to the vanishing points, so that might be something to do with it.
Then we had to do 3-point grids, one from a bird's eye view and the other from a worm's eye (looking up/down). These were fine as I only drew cuboids and stuck to the middle of the grids.
The last grid we drew was a five-point grid, I've never done one of these before, and I was off sick during this class, so I think I've managed to figure it out, but I'm not entirely sure. It produces a fish-eye lense effect.
After practicing the grids and drawing cubes, we were tasked with drawing a scene in 2-point perspective from a short list of prompts, I chose to do a fantasy tavern:
First of all I did a couple of thumnails to try and figure out the scene before drawing the bigger grid, I'm using my bard character from last week's class as he fits the aesthetic:
It was a bit difficult to come up with a 2-point perspective grid for this one as my first insinct for tavern scenes is to make it 1-point perspective, but drawing the thumbnails first helped me come up with an idea.
