Skull Sculpting 2
In last week's session we went over masking and subtools, and now I'm continuing to work on the skull sculpt as I learn how to use Zbrush:
For reference this was were I left off, the jaw and head are all in one piece.
With subtools, you can have seperate objects/ seperate meshes, so I masked the top half of the skull and carved away the jaw so that I could sculpt a new one:
Before making the jaw I tried to modify the nose bridge a little bit, as well as building up areas of the head. Any building up or carving I do is with the clay buildup brush, I just like how it looks, although I do smooth it out after.
I started off with a cube for the jaw, and then tried to carve away and build up certain areas. I'm not sure why but the jaw mesh is a much lower poly count: initially I tried clicking "make polymesh 3D" but the rest of the skull disappeared from the tools and subtools, so I tried dynamesh instead, but nothing really happened.
This is where I've gotten up to, it's still a work in progress and I might restart the jaw, but this was mainly to try out the subtools.
